It€™s coming down to the wire on Project Runway, with Bryant Park so close the remaining contestants and smell it! For this weeks challenge, Tim took the group on a field trip, all the way to another floor in the building where the designers were aghast at the screams and moans coming from the other side of the door. No, they weren€™t designing ensembles for a porn shoot - rather, for the WWE Divas to wear in the ring. The ensembles had to cater to each diva€™s personality, and as always, must still showcase the designer€™s unique vision.
Some of the contestants, like Chris, thrived and had a blast, while other, like Sweet P struggled immensely. In the end, the judges - including guest judges Heatherette designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains - gave to win to Chris€™ leopard printed frock, and told Ricky to pack up his bathing-suit like costume because he was out. And in a Project Runway first, Ricky didn€™t cry! Stylehive just spoke to the latest auf-ee to get the scoop. Stylehive: What was the overall Project Runway experience like for you?Ricky: In the beginning I was just afraid, I was like €˜woah, what did I get into.€™ In the middle I kind of got my bearings and said €˜alright, let€™s have fun with this.€™ Towards the end I kind of just did my thing and I just realized do what you€™re gonna do and be happy with it- good or bad or different, whatever. Stylehive: What were your thoughts on this week€™s challenge?
Ricky: At first I was excited, but then I kept thinking to myself €˜I€™m on a fashion competition, so it doesn€™t make sense.€™ Like we€™re making wrestling outfits when we€™re supposed to be making things for the runway- that€™s the whole point- so that was what I thought right off the bat. Stylehive: Do you regret your design?
Ricky: If I would have realized that they were gonna pigeonhole me into the idea that it was a wrestling outfit as opposed to a costume- well let€™s put it this way, I don€™t regret it because a costume can be anything, right? So for me it was kind of like, sure, call it what you want, but turn on a WWE and see what they really wear and it€™s pretty much what I gave her- just a little sexier version of it. Stylehive: Last week you won your first challenge, but that was the week when immunity was no longer given to the winner- did you kind of feel robbed that you got the boot when you should have had immunity?
Ricky: Yeah, I was getting my momentum and all of a sudden that happened- so yes, I did feel a little robbed. It was the only one where there was no immunity and I just thought €˜Wow.€™ I felt like no matter where I turned, it was always like €˜wrong direction!€™ It€™s a game, at the end of the day it€™s not the whole spectrum of fashion, it€™s just a game. Stylehive: What€™s next for you?
Ricky: I€™m working on my lingerie, and I€™m actually working on doing a swimsuit line. For ready to wear I€™m putting together a package to do a line of dresses, little cocktail dresses. I want to just make things that I think women wanna feel great in. My lingerie is actually out right now; it€™s called Lizalde - it€™s out at Neiman Marcus, a few of the Nordstrom stores, and a lot of specialty boutiques around the nation. And of course the swim wear and the dresses hopefully will follow and be in similar stores.
