What€™s hot, sweaty and red all over? Me, at Bikram Yoga. Feeling the onset of bathing suit season looming eerily on the horizon, I figured Bikram Yoga would be the best way to get in tip-top shape for bikini time. This is not your ohm-shanti, incense burning type of yoga, Bikram is ninety minutes of hardcore compressions and poses in a 110-degree room that will whip anyone back into shape and super-fast. A friend and I committed to a Bikram challenge to help get ourselves looking hot for summer, two weeks of at least four classes a week. Read on for all the sweaty details.
Day 1: I was nervous! They warn you beforehand about dizziness and nausea and I totally had both. No matter what, you are not allowed to leave the class so when my vision turned black and I was sure I was going to fall over, I just kept breathing and sat down until the feeling passed. At the end of day one, I felt like a warrior, energized and tough. I was glowing at home and could not believe myself.Day 2: I felt a little nauseous and wanted to cry halfway through, but no blackout. But it gets easier as you go along, I got through only having to lay down once. And my body was already looking more toned and sexy. The sweating combined with the hardcore exercise made me look lean fast.Day 3: I went back the very next day and I got through the class without sitting down. While watching myself in the mirror, I could already see the changes in my body and I was beginning to fall in love with it all over again. I could picture how cute I was going to look on the beach!Day 4: It€™s still hard but I get through every pose keeping my eye on the prize: moi! I am feeling better about myself than ever.Day 5: I am hooked and I look great. I get through the class with ease and am so happy I started this.So Bikram is worth every ounce of blood, sweat and tears. It€™s tough, but so so so good in the end. Would you ever sweat it out, bees? If so, let€™s do a Stylehive Bikram challenge.
