Rules, rules, rules! Never wear blue eyeshadow, never match your eyeshadow to your eye color, and most importantly... never match your eyeshadow to your clothing. Enough already! These days, rules are made to be broken. Store shelves and online beauty destinations are lined with hundreds of colors, representing the entire chromatic spectrum.
Neutral browns, buffs, taupes and fawns needn't be the only shades you liven your lids with. The new rule of thumb is if you're wearing a color that looks great on you, then you can wear it on your eyes as well.If vivid color or runway looks make you cringe, never fear- you too can make a hint of color work for you. Accenting with a bright color can give your entire look a boost and make your eyes pop. Consider applying a bright color along with your usual neutral shades, applying a small amount of color in the "crease" or "vee" portion of your eyelid, or eyelining with a wide swath of bright color before applying a darker shade on top of it to tone down the intensity. Mix vivid colors with neutrals to play it safe...I've spotted coordinating eyeshadow looks on a variety of this season's runways. All of these looks are heightened by the accent color of matching makeup. Breaking the rules was never more fun!
