Avant-garde art meets hotel lodging with Berlin's Propeller Island City Lodge. This innovative and unique hotel made up of 31 themed rooms is the brilliant work of German artist Lars Stroschen. Probably one of the most eccentric accomodations out there, one should definitely check out the website to choose one of the custom-made theatrical rooms. The Flying Bed Room has a slanted floor and a bed which appears to float mid-air. The Upside Room room has all the furnishings on the ceiling and you sleep in boxes under the floorboards. The Gruft room is for those gothic die-hards who want to sleep in coffins. Be careful, there is a fee if you change rooms during your stay.
