I love searching for vintage clothing on eBay. I could easily while away an entire afternoon looking for original Biba or Ossie Clark dresses. But there's nothing more heartbreaking than losing an auction for an item you had your heart set on. Well... it's also pretty bad to win that Biba dress, pay for it and never receive it. Come to think of it, it's super lame when you win the auction and receive the item, only to learn it's from the 80s, and not, as the listing stated, from the 60s.
Unfortunately, I have been burned in each of the three aforementioned ways!Thank goodness for vintage lovers like Elizabeth Eggleston, proprietor of one of my favorite online vintage shops, Vintage-a-Peel. Eggleston has long been one of my favorite sellers on eBay, though sadly I've never had the good fortune of winning one of her auctions. Lucky for me, eBay is not her only venue for selling her carefully curated selection of vintage treasures. A quick perusal of the goodies offered for sale through Eggleston's online shop reveals a staggering wealth of knowledge about vintage fashion, particularly the British Boutique designers associated with the swinging sixties. In addition to the gorgeous threads currently available, the site also boasts galleries of sold items, vintage editorial fashion photos, Eggleston's personal style icons and garments from her own personal vintage collection. Best of all? When you buy from Vintage-a-Peel, you can trust you are purchasing an authentic piece of fashion history, lovingly cared for and accurately described by a devoted vintage lover. These are some of my favorite Vintage-A-Peel items in the Hive:Ossie Clark Black Maxi DressBill Gibb Knit Ensemble
