Canadian glass artist Sally Mc Cubbin is not content to allow a pretty bowl to be just a pretty bowl and nothing more. Instead, she uses her glass art as a vehicle for conceptualism: the images that are featured on each one of her graphic Imagery Bowls make a subtle statement that questions war, the restrictions of gender, monoculturalism, and other similarly thought-provoking subjects. Every bowl has two layers that work together to form the aforementioned imagery: the innermost layer of glass is translucent and has been relief-cut as to reveal a contrasting and coordinating layer of colored of glass that forms the outside of the bowl. Don€™t bury these beautifully made and conceived bowls under mountains of candy or other objects! Show them off singularly on your table or shelf to inspire yourself and your guests to ponder, philosophize, and debate the state of our modern world.
