Hot in the Hive: Squeeze an Extra Month Out of Your Garden

The first thing I do when the leaves start to turn is pull out my old beat-up Smith & Hawken for Target portable fire pit and set it up in the corner of the garden furthest from my windows, to avoid setting off the fire alarm.

Then, every nice night when I get home from work, I grab a few sticks of wood or branches that have fallen from the trees over the past few days, make a nice little fire, and cozy up to it with my sweetie and a glass of red wine.

I can usually keep this up through October before its just too damn cold, period. However, if I had this amazing Beach Burner Portable Bonfire, I think I'd do everything in my power to stretch the fun into November.

Truly a work of art, I could see keeping this out during the summer months as a piece of garden sculpture, or even a planter. Cut from heavy steel plate, the maker says it will last "generations outdoors with no maintenance."

The 24-inch version can be shipped anywhere in the contiguous 48, so order now before fall is dunzo!
