"Creative, crafty, and curious" Victoria E is a freelance writer, life-long model, on-camera personality and founder of the San Francisco Craft Mafia who blogs and Hives everything eco-friendly. Look in her Hive for fashionably green products, 50s pin-up styling, and kitschy Etsy items.
SH: What is the first thing people notice about you?
VE: Either my big boobs or the unique energy that I give off; my big, blue eyes are pretty noticeable as well. Fashion-wise, on an average day, I am pretty subdued, so there isn't too much unique to spot, except the fact that everything I wear is eco-friendly and sustainable in one way or another.
SH: Whose Hive would you love to shop from?
VE: Other than my own? I've posted some pretty random stuff in my own Hive that I don't think I'd ever buy for myself. I'm a big fan of bitsandbobbins/Tricia Royal's Hive - she mixes the worlds of modern, pop, fashion, and indie/crafty so well that it is hard to fathom just how awesome her closet must look.
SH: Who's your style icon?
VE: 50s pin-ups - I never feel more like a woman than when I am in high-waist pencil shirts or jeans, cute heels, and basic tops. Unfortunately, finding "green" pin-up goods is not very easy; if anyone wants to start an eco-friendly 50s-style clothing line with me, let me know! ;) Specifically, my style is a modern mix of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.
SH: What are your 3 favorite eco-friendly product in the hive?
VE: I adore the oodles of Etsy.com posts that I find; that site is becoming as swank as eBay, only much niftier. The latest collection from Camilla Norrback has some priceless, classy pieces that I'd love add my own bits of style to. Hands down, one of my all-time favorite items, which just happens to be made out of 100% organic cotton, is the Stewart+Brown Lengthened Tee.
SH: What message would you like to leave the world?
VE: That the world itself is worth saving. Humans, animals, and plants are one in the same and all should be treated with the same amount of care, consideration, and respect. There is no reason not to consider your impact with every step that you take and dollar that you spend; everything is connected and your actions will affect those that you have not and never will meet.
SH: What latest fashion trend do you hate?
VE: Anything skimpy - the popularity of showing as much skin as possible is deplorable.
SH: Where would you go on a first date?
VE: Somewhere casual where we don't have to eat - I'm oddly shy when it comes to eating in front of people that I don't know very well. Of course, walking through Golden Gate Park is always high on my list.
SH: What do you do when you're not Hiving?
VE:You'll often find me stuck behind my laptop, working on my latest freelance writing project, blogging, or writing my first non-fiction book. I've been getting back into modeling after taking a break for a few months, which is more exciting than words can express. My other random hobbies include yoga, reading, taking long walks, knitting, singing, and getting more tattoos.
SH: Name 3 things you can't live without.
VE: Lots of water, Twice Shy clothing, and my mom.
SH: Awww!
