The 14th China Fashion Week launched in Beijing on March 26, 2006. More than 120 veteran and emerging designers from 24 countries showcased their latest Autumn/Winter collections.
The event opened with a troupe of fiery red models walking down the runway carrying glowing Chinese lanterns. The highlight of the evening was the €œBottom Drawer for the Brides€� fashion show.During the show a wedding took place with €œbrides€� enveloping the stage in a range of styles. China Fashion Week also hosts the Hempel Award, an international fashion contest for young designers. Italian designer Christiana Lapi won the coveted prize this year with her €œBlack, Tie, White, Tie€� collection featuring a combination of feminine and masculine styles which set her apart from the red or white wedding dresses by the other finalists.
