My good fashion karma must be paying off (I saw socks with flip-flops the other day and didn't even say anything!) because somehow I scored a front row seat at the Reem Acra show in the Bryant Park Tents! And yes, front row seats are all they are cracked up to be: a famous celebrity photographer took my picture (I'm sure he thought I was someone else), and I was close enough to see that one model also had blisters on the back of her feet (wow, they are real people after all)!
Most importantly, I got the chance to see the collection close up, and let me tell you, it was everything I'd hoped it would be: beautiful and sophisticated, while remaining playful, thanks to the large polka dots. I loved the bright color palette of poppy, grape, and this season's designer color of choice, bright yellow! The show opened with the most beautiful yellow roll-collar coat, and closed with some of the best eveningwear I've seen all season! It was full of a surprisingly wearable mix of patterns and textures. I never would have thought to put gingham, polka dots, and floral prints together in one outfit, but Reem Acra was able to pull it off in style! Keep an eye out for Reem Acra come spring; I know I will!Photos: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
