For a few glorious weeks, Monday nights were amazing. We had The Hills AND Gossip Girl! Then their seasons ended, and Monday's once again sucked. Until last night! Monday nights are officially awesome again because our favorite pot-dealing mom, Nancy Botwin, is BACK on the Showtime hit Weeds! I got the chance to chat with the actress who plays her, Mary Louise Parker, backstage at the Tony awards on Sunday.
Stylehive: Who are you wearing tonight?MLP: Albertta Feretti - it's black and short. I really like her clothes, actually last year I wore a dress of hers that I really liked, it was green and really pretty. Stylehive: You have the most gorgeous skin I've ever seen, what are your secrets?
MLP: Oh my god thank you! It's not that great today because I was out late last night! But I don't go in the sun, actually, and I quit smoking and I don't drink very often, except for last night which is why i have these sunglasses on. And I'm kind of a product-whore, I like Dr. Hauschka and Jurlique because they're natural and I can use their stuff on my kids even. But my mother has great skin, she's never even had a facial and she's 85. Stylehive: What can we expect on Weeds this season?
MLP:Well she burned down her house, so she's relocating, and it's gonna be a whole new scene and a whole new backdrop and it's a really different season. I think the vibe is really different, actually, new people, new characters. Stylehive: Why did you want to play this character?
MLP: I liked that it was a little perverse and I liked that it was a little dark and that she wasn't a perfect mother. I just thought it was real- I'm not perfect, I don't know anybody whose perfect. Stylehive: What's the best thing about you being a parent?
MLP: Oh everything, just all of it! Just the things that they say- my daughter doesn't talk so much yet, she puts a couple of words together in there, but the stuff my son says. I'm always running to write it down because I can't believe the things that come out of his mouth, he's just a little poet. I'm just completely in love with both of them and I could just eat them, they're both incredible.
