Lydia Hearst is officially my favorite celeb. I got the chance to chat with the socialite, clad in a hot pink sequined top and black pants by Phillip and David Blond and Dolce & Gabbana shoes, with her boyfriend of 3 weeks, Matt Rains (brother of Heatherette designer Traver Rains), by her side, at the Step Up Women€™s Network 10th Anniversary Inspiration Awards Gala.
We talked about the usual stuff - her best fashion advice (€œBe confident in yourself, it doesn€™t really matter what you€™re wearing, if you feel comfortable, confident, and sexy that€™s all that really matters and you can make anything look attractive€�), her favorite designers ("Honestly, if I€™m working for you, you€™re my favorite€�), her best beauty tips (€œI always use Vaseline instead of an eye-makeup remover and I use it as a chap-stick. And I always try to drink at least a gallon of water a day€�), if she€™ll be back on Gossip Girl next season ("We€™re not really allowed to discuss it as of yet, but there€™s a good possibility"). All that was fine and dandy, but what came next was out of this world! It started before the interview even got underway. I was chatting with a reporter from OK! Magazine and we were trying to think of an outrageous question to ask Lydia, just to see how she€™d react. As a joke, my reporter friend suggested we ask her if she€™s the next Paris Hilton, to which I enthusiastically replied: DO IT!! We weren€™t expecting to get much out of her, maybe something like €œwell Paris is a sweet girl, but we€™re very different people.€� That€™s what made her actual response all the more phenomenal. So is Lydia the next Paris? With wide eyes, an appalled facial expression, and a tone of voice heavily coated in sarcasm, she replied: "NO!! Um, I went to college and I am a supermodel and I have a legitimate career in journalism, television, and fashion, and designing€¦I€™m a Hearst, not a Hilton.€� Yowza! In defense of Paris, she does do stuff, I mean she, well didn't she, oh nevermind Lydia's right!
