Backstage At Tracy Reese: Get The Smokin Hot Hair And Makeup Looks - Stylehive

The Tracy Reese fall/winter '08 collection was inspired by the power of nature, a theme that extended beyond the clothes and onto the hair and makeup looks as well. I got the chance to hang backstage before the show to watch the magic unfold and of course, to find out exactly how to recreate the stunningly sexy looks.

Hair:
Stylist Edris Nicholls kept the hair loose, wavy, and elemental to correspond with Tracy's collection which drew upon the elements of nature. To create the look, she ran FHI Hot Sauce through the models' damp hair, twisted the hair into two buns on the side of the head-held in place with bobby pins- and then letting it dry naturally. When the buns were released, voila, the models had soft, natural-looking waves.
(Side note: This technique seemed a little too easy, so after the show I went home and gave it a try, and lo and behold, it works and comes out amazing!)

Makeup:
Makeup artists Mally Roncal went bold with the makeup concept to enhance the 'power of nature' theme, "basically you've got that very strong eye, but you've also got a prominent cheek and a bit of color on the lip. So even though there's a lot of color going on, it's still very wearable and pretty."

Eyes:
Mally created a stormy-eye look using different layers of shimmer in purple, lilac, plum, lavender, and black for added depth and dimension. This was done all around the eye and pulled out a bit for a sexier, edgier version of the always-sexy smokey-eye look. And of course, curling your lashes and applying black liner and mascara are essential when rocking this look.

Cheeks and Lips:
Mally applied a berry stain all over the top of the cheek, the cheekbones, and above the brow to create a windburn effect that really activated the eye area as well. She then set the stain by applying a hot pink icy shimmer all over the cheeks and cheek bones. To complete the look, she used the same berry stain to add color and life to the lips.
