A quick once-over of my closet and you'll be able to sum it up in three words: skinny jeans galore! And after awhile, despite all the different washes and dyes and distressing, they all start to look the same. Leave it to Jessica Alba to give me some inspiration for updating my denim collection! Constantly seen out and about LA with daughter Honor in tow, Jessica Alba's nearly always in jeans for ultimate comfort and mobility, and despite juggling her little one and a demanding career, she always makes time to look stylish on the go. Grey Is Denim's Latest Color To Crave

Last year's colored denim craze didn't exactly have me jumping for joy- I find electric blue skinny jeans absolutely terrifying. J.Crew has a knack for making denim look positively adorable in all sorts of pastel shades, but I'm convinced the appeal is all in the masterful styling and not the denim itself. So basically, while I want to like colored denim, I just can't. Besides, I prefer to think of denim as a canvas for the rest of my outfit- the more minimal, the better. The occasional distressing, fine. Studs and rhinestones, no thanks. So when I came across a crop of dusty grey denim at Madewell, I couldn't help but think I was on to something. Sure, they weren't your typical jeans, but they weren't your basic blue jeans either. They were noteworthy, but neutral all at once- in a word, they were perfect. CollegeCandy Wishlist: Denim, Or Sweats?

When it comes to many things in life, including fashion, I'm a fan of odd, quirky things that leave people asking questions. No, I'm not going to start wearing fairy wings like one of the girls on What Not To Wear, but I did pick up a pair of pants last week that totally fit the bill. They were a pair of skinny denim-like pants by Fragile that I scored at T.J. Maxx for $17, but normally retail for $29 (sweet!) at Hot Topic, a store I haven't stepped into since my friend's goth days in high school. Anyway, the pants look like jeans, but function somewhat like sweatpants in that you basically pull them on and button the single button at the top. I would say that they are comparable to denim leggings, although I prefer these Fragile pants since they look more like jeans and aren't as skintight. These pants are definitely the answer to every college girl's fashion dilemma: chic sweatpants? That you can wear to class? And not look sloppy? I think it's time we all made a run to Hot Topic! It seems like only yesterday that we were all wearing flannel and ripped denim (remember the grunge scene of the early 90s?). I used to go down those rough cement slides in the park to get the perfect distressed look. Those days are long gone, but ripped denim is no one hit wonder!
