Jimmy Choo For H&M Collection Debuts For VIPs, And All Dignity Is Lost

On the eve of the official Jimmy Choo for H&M collection debut, I made my way to the retailer's flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York for a special pre-launch shopping event. Celebs, fashion professionals, and press made up the invitation list--par for the course at these shindigs. We're generally a jaded lot (or, at least, pretend to be). Anna Wintour walks within two feet of you in the tents during Fashion Week? Don't even blink (internally, though, you're hyperventilating). So imagine my surprise when upon entering the red-carpeted doors, I spotted many of my brethren in a state of downright frenzy, squealing over stilettos and gleefully grabbing as many handbags as they were allowed. The store itself was tricked out with glamorous sapphire draping, an open bar, and gourmet h'or dourves, but all eyes were on the shoe section where even the guests had to wait our turn to have a go. Christian Siriano and Michelle Trachtenberg were just some of the stars spotted in the fray, and as I left the store, there were apparently folks getting ready to line up overnight for the opening on Saturday morning. The H&M designer collections are a phenomenon I love for the fun, boy band crazy-like moments they create, especially when they can bring out the fashion fanatic in many of my seemingly "over it" colleagues, moi included. And next up on H&M's stellar collaboration roster? Sonia Rykiel, whose H&M lingerie collection launches December 5, with a spring collection debut to follow on February 10, 2010. I'm not really a fan of traditional up-dos. You know, the ones with the spiral curls that are pinned neatly together and sprayed with enough hairspray to destroy the ozone. Maybe it's just me, but I've never really been into pageant hair. I prefer something a little sleeker and sexier, not to mention something that doesn't quadruple my carbon footprint. When it comes to formal or special events, I'm all about taking risks with hair and makeup. The bigger the risk the better the payoff, right? That couldn't be more true with the look Kim Kardashian is rockin' on the red carpet. Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam broke into the music scene in 2004 and is simply impossible to forget, because of her lyrics, both catchy and intense ("All I wanna do is... BANG BANG BANG BANG"), and her unique style. M.I.A. seems to take style inspiration from all areas of her life - whether it's her love of prints coming from her past as a graphic designer, or drawing a love of dyeing techniques from her Sri Lankan decent. Her style is incredibly unique - and she puts things together the way no one else would, with a surprising mix of color, crazy textures and a great love of neon and shiny material. To get even close to M.I.A.'s signature style, you'll have to mix it up - bold bangles with loose-fitting neon shirts over shiny leggings with some bright kicks. LimeLife Reports: Madonna To Model For Dolce & Gabbana

Madonna is certainly all over the place these days. Instead of fading away as she gets older, she just seems to be getting more and more popular for more and more things (including dating a much, much younger man). And she's still gorgeous enough to be modeling, too! Madonna is set to be the newest model for Dolce & Gabbana! And in case you didn't know, it's not the first time Madonna has worked with the popular designer. They actually designed the costumes for Madonna's 1993 Girlie Show tour. And more recently, they just designed the costumes for her Sticky and Sweet tour. Since they've been working together for so long, it seems only natural for Madonna to start modeling for them, especially since she recently finished her stint as the spokesmodel for Louis Vuitton. The annual event, which honors twelve women of all ages and walks of life, took place at New York City's Carnegie Hall for its 2009 edition. Among its impressive array of honorees were Rihanna and Amy Poehler, who seemed humble to be in one another's presence, yet looked equally fabulous upon arrival! After all, if you're going to be in the company of such iconic women as Maya Angelou and Maria Shriver, the least you can do is be on your style A-game! Camilla Belle Wears Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

At the debut of the futuristic dystopian flick "2012," Camilla Belle bravely donned an Alexander McQueen creation from his Spring 2010 collection, which premiered in Paris a few weeks ago. The entire Alexander McQueen collection featured a futuristic look and reptilian themed prints. Belle's dress was a short dress with a puff-ball skirt and gem trim on the sleeves. She wisely accessorized this attention-grabber of a dress with a minimal theme in mind. A simple bangle, plain earrings, and nude platform heels ensured that accessories would not compete with the dress. It would be easy to overdo it with chains or diamonds or "look-at-me" shoes. Also in attendance at the movie premiere was American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert. The soundtrack to the movie features his song "Time for Miracles." Critics describe the song as "perfect" for the movie in which the world faces a huge cataclysmic event and those left have to fight for survival. Written by Roland Emmerich and Harald Kloser, the movie's cast includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Thandie Newton. Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover are also included in the cast of thousands. The film premiered November 4 in Los Angeles. This week it is scheduled for release in Belgium, France, and the UK. Every since Christophe Decarnin sent his fembots down his spring and fall runway shows in minis with sky high hemlines and long sleeves it seems like celebs can't get enough. Blake Lively has been spotted in a seriously shoulder padded black sequined number and Sienna Miller rocked a majorly distressed version in gold at the party for her Broadway show "After Miss Julie." But its not just Balmain that's playing the long sleeve mini game. Chloe Sevigny's been out and about in new designer Kimberly Ovitz's nude bandaged mini and Alexa Chung looked perfectly minimalist in red Calvin Klein. One thing is for sure, all of these dresses have dangerously high hemlines, but the more conservative, covered-up look on top keeps it balanced. I mean mom always said to cover up, right?
