Urban Nest: Fawn Galli's Dreamy Design

Some people tell stories with words; others, with rooms. Fawn Galli is one of these people. The New York-based interior designer has turned her Brooklyn brownstone into a wonderland of magic and whimsicality, as if the pages of her favorite storybooks opened up into charming little enclaves, each one a little different from the next.

Fawn bases her relationship with her clients on their dreams and memories so that the result is just as personal as a favorite corner, living room, or entire home should be. Her signature style is thus formed by the people she works with, and not on a strict set of designing rules, though she does carry a few philosophies as she makes her way through the memories and discoveries that inspire her.

From pastels to thrift store finds, imported textiles, and ethnic prints, there's a slight "anything goes" aura about her work, though it's not quite as simple as the "cluttered chic" trend that's to be the haphazard backlash to the overly modern, showroom-esque trend. Galli balances her focus on fantasy with a careful analysis of color and space, infusing method with magic and fantasy with realism.
