The Los Angeles Mercedes-Benz Fashion week at Smashbox Studios began on March 19th and ended on March 23rd. LA Fashion Week is the West Coast version of its infamous New York counterpart. The collections brought out the best of LA€™s design talent and hoards of celebrities eager for a fashion fix. Three designers that caught the eye of the media and Hollywood€™s finest included Morphine Generation, Octavio Carlin and Jennifer Nicholson.
Morphine Generation€™s show was an ode to the punk rock generation. The collection included the punk rock's essential stovepipe jeans in skintight black denim and tees embellished with punk icons including skulls and pre-ripped for that rough and tumble look. Octavio Carlin€™s show was the polar opposite of the Morphine show, models were swathed in flowing silk georgette gowns fit for a Greek goddess (or an Academy Award nominee!). This collection oozed of classic Hollywood glamour. Think Rita Hayworth€™s gowns in the movie, €œDown to Earth€ circa 1947. Jennifer Nicholson, the celebrity legacy grew up surrounded by fashion icons such as Diana Vreeland, Angelica Houston and Lauren Hutton. Jennifer€™s collection was pure romance and boasted fanciful pirate prints that would make Bluebeard envious.
