DIY Style: Eva Marie Elsie DeVore's Fall Cozy Jackets

Are you dreaming of fall weather and cozy jackets? Designer Eva Marie Elsie DeVore has captured the feel of the season with bohemian jackets for gals and guys. She is a new designer with an earthy spirit that we recently discovered on the FADMASHION site. Recently graduated, she will be one of the young designers featured in Project Ethos in September. Her first collection will feature both women's wear and four complete menswear looks.

DeVore's Mama Wolf was inspired by a Devendra Banhart song of the same name.

"I wanted to translate his earthly melodies and bohemian attitude into a tangible garment, so I used rich natural colors and diverse patterns into a collective piece with a harmonious flow. The song title 'Mama Wolf' also evoked a nostalgia to 'Little Red Riding Hood' and her marvelous hooded cape, which ultimately became the basis for the color palette and the draped hood. "

The lightweight slubbed woolens together with the twill weave pattern create a distinctive look. DeVore lined the jacket and the hood in a calico printed voile. The men's woolen coat is a bit denser weight with a herringbone twill weave. She used a beautiful silk charmeuse for the lining and included a personalized initialed tag.

DeVore loves handcrafting her designs. She desires to sell her work in boutiques that value the aesthetic quality of hand made work.

"I appreciate the look of care and craftsmanship, and I also love the fact that each piece is unique on its own. Mass production isn't something I am even considering right now. I wouldn't want my jacket, or anything I create for that matter, to be a toss away item in the back of some woman's closet. My clothing's uniqueness is one that I could see a truly distinctive spirit wearing. "
