Chic Salon Owner's Top 5 Hair Care Products, Including "Low Poo"?

Sherri Ziesche opened up Salon in the Russian Hill area of San Francisco because she wanted a place in her neighborhood that she would go to! Salon provides a high level of personal attention and professionalism, but at the same time, is chic and friendly. Known for their quick blow-outs that let you walk in after work and get straight to your hot date or a wild evening, guests even get a complimentary espresso or glass of Prosecco during their treatment. Before I got a fabulous haircut from the talented Kelly who used Shu Uemura's new hair care line (which I love!), the lovely Sherri took some time with me to share her top five must have hair products.

1. One of my favorite products for curly hair is Bumble & Bumble's Curl Conscious line. On towel dried hair, use a little of the B&B Grooming Creme. Then, when hair is 80-100% dry, spray in B&B's Surf Spray to give it that Jennifer Aniston sexy windblown kind of look.

2. The new Shu Uemura hair care line was offered to us exclusively and we're excited to be a part of it. There are about 10 places that have it in San Francisco. I love the foundation sprays (smooths out the cuticle), I love the oil, because I curl my hair a lot - it helps set and protect the hair. The polishing milk is great to blowdry your hair with - it's not just for fine hair, it's for any kind of hair. There's a fiber lift for volume - apply at the root with heat, then use a flat iron or curling iron and style accordingly.

3. I love love love Klorane Laboratories Gentle Shampoo - it's a dry spray. On dry hair, you section into your hair and spray in at the root area, on the part and around the face. It refreshes the hair, adds body at the root, and you can just wake up and go for several days! It absorbs the oils, and you can just reactivate the product at the root by going through your hair with your fingers. It's a godsend! A good thing to have on trips or even after the gym. Don't forget - on dry hair or else it will clump.

4. My favorite hair mask is the Hayashi 911 Emergency Pak. Use a clarifying or deeper cleansing shampoo to get all that build up out first. Towel dry, put this on, comb it through. If you have a shower cap - put it on at least 20 minutes and let it process. Don't need to apply heat, and rinse it out with cooler water. You'll notice a difference immediately! If your hair is really damaged, you can use it once or twice or week - but go off of it after a month.

5. The DevaCurl line is a great line for curly hair. It's all low suds, or almost no suds. It's called "Low-Poo", which is a low sudsing shampoo you use once a week. In between you would use the "No-Poo" which is a cleansing rinse - not a sudsing shampoo. If you have really thick curly hair, you have to just rinse - you can't shampoo all the time because the hair is already on the dryer side. Sudsing shampoo tends to dry out curling hair.

Lastly, I asked Sherri what she thinks the latest trend is for hair. "I think people are really starting to curl their hair a lot - using hot rollers, curling irons. People are getting blowouts - we do a lot of blowouts and updos at Salon. Even curly haired people want soft curls."

So there you have it, get out your Matrix Vavoom and curl, curl, curl! Thanks, Sherri!
