Enter To Win A Pair Of Rich & Skinny Jeans!

It can be pretty daunting to even try and keep up with what's going on in the denim world, when new designers and trends pop up faster than you can steal your boyfriend's jeans. That's why it's great when you can rely on just one label to do all of the work for you! Rich & Skinny is that label. Now don't let the name sway you too much-- designers Joie Rucker (who you may recognize from the brand she created, Joie) and Michael Glasser (who started 7 For All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity) say it's just a joke, but there is a bit of truth in that Rich & Skinny jeans will make you feel just as amazing as their name suggests. From classic skinny denim to perfectly distressed boyfriend jeans, plus vibrant colored jeans and adorable denim shorts, this premium line is packed with the styles you want and the fit you crave- it's no surprise these jeans are a favorite of stars like Jessica Alba, Beyonce, Lauren Conrad, and many others. We spoke to Joie about her background in fashion, her denim styling and shopping tips, and the denim trends we'll be seeing in the upcoming months- read on to catch the interview, and find out how you can enter to win a pair of Rich & Skinny jeans for yourself!

Stylehive: With so many denim brands out there, what sets Rich & Skinny apart from the rest?
Joie Rucker: Our quality and fit are the best in the business. Other brands really don't compare in these areas. We pay special attention to all of the details on our garments and spare no expense in the ingredients we use in making our magic, i.e Italian denim and handcrafted buttons and rivets. All of our washes are done by hand individually by skilled artisans from the best denim wash house in Los Angeles. All of our jeans are made in the USA in the best family-owned sewing shop- the list of quality goes on and on.

Stylehive: Aside from what the label "Rich & Skinny" suggests, what can we expect fit-wise?
Joie: We Have a variety of styles, fits and washes in the line. Our original skinny fit, called "Sleek" is still a best seller but we have added to that with a "Boyfriend" fit (fits at the waist but looks like your boyfriend's favorite vintage jean that actually makes your butt look good!) that is flying off the shelves at high-end specialty stores everywhere. The boyfriend is giving "Sleek" a run for #1! We also have a variety of "boy" shorts in all different lengths for spring and summer. "Rich & Skinny" doesn't describe a particular fit- it's how we want you to feel when you are wearing our jeans! Oh- and also- it's kind of a joke. We are trying not to take ourselves too seriously. Our primary job is to make people feel comfortable while making their butts look amazing!

Stylehive: Sounds good to us! What are your tips for wearing colored denim?
Joie: Colored denim is best worn as your outfit's main statement. If you wear it, keep your top and other accessories in a more understated zone, otherwise you venture over the top into the zone of Christian Lacroix. My strategy for going out would include a dark t shirt or blouse with a bright pair of jeans, maybe emerald or red or fuchsia, tucked into knee high boots. A summer outfit can be more daring and colorful- neon yellow jeans with sparkly sandals in a complimentary or tonal color look great with a sheer t-shirt or draped top.

Stylehive: What are the denim trends for spring/summer?
Joie: Boyfriend jeans and boyfriend shorts, and for color- white and neon denim.

Stylehive: Based on all your experience designing for Guess, Levi's, and your own line, Joie Jeans, what is the most important quality to look for when shopping for jeans?
Joie: When trying on and shopping for jeans I first look for a fit that flatters me, then for the quality of the fabric and trim details, last but not least, the quality of the sewing- that it is straight and tight and that the stitches are not too spread out or loose. When jeans have super large stitching detail (it's like sheet thread counts) they tend to fall apart faster.

Stylehive: You've experienced a lot of success with both Joie and Rich & Skinny- what's next for you?
Joie: Whatever challenge God or the universe gifts me with!

Rich & Skinny should incorporate more intricate detail, like different color stitching, etc. Their jeans are already quality and durable with a nice fit, which are the top things to look for when it comes to jeans. It's always the details that make you stand out from the rest. Also, 10k gold buttons would be nice for the price. lol ;) Winking

I'd love for Rich & Skinny to incorporate pyramid studs on their jeans - they're the hugest trend right now, seen on everything from magazines to blogs to stores. All the fashion bloggers are diy-ing studs onto their clothes to make a more edgy yet glam look, which I think is consistent with Rich & Skinny's hip image!

I would love them to have a choice of either regular sizes for women(24,28,etc.) or the option of choosing your inseam and waist like in men's jeans. I find it really hard to find women's jeans that fit well so I buy men's so I can choose the measurements. I think most women would love to have the option to choose because all women's bodies are different so I can't see how we can all wear set sizes.

incorporating nice looking pockets with vintage or sporty details wold be great for Rich & Skinny, its nice to have a pair of jeans that you can wear from day to night. Not changing the whole outfit, with the appropriate jeans whether your going out or simply having a girl's night out,,its the jeans and the attitude that's going make you feel good about yourself and a lot of confidence with your body.

I would love to see a trouser jean in a dark wash that also makes your butt look good! Sometimes with trouser jeans, the cut is such a wide leg look that it makes you look a bit dumpy. Would love to have a pair of trouser style that looks flattering too! Hope I win!!!

I want a pair of Rich & Skinny jeans that I can wear with heels or sneakers. Versitile, so that I can dress them up or wear them casually. Incorporating a design on the pockets and adjusting the waistline (to sit higher on the hips) to flatter the backside are also valuable features. I'd also love to see creative flare in the Rich & Skinny line: destruction on a dark wash for the edgy stylistas, sailor flare/waist/buttons for the comfort-loving trendsetters, skinny jeans that are dark with some sparkle (rhinestones) that would compliment a partygoer's vibe.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A TOTAL GRUNGE PAIR OF DENIM. A CIGARETTE LEG WITH A DEEP LUSTROUS BLUE DYE, FRAYED POCKETS (REINFORCED TO PREVENT TOTAL DESTRUCTION), WITH A LITTLE BIT OF BLEACH SPOTS EITHER ALONG THE FRONT POCKET OR ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE LEG. aNOTHER OPTION COULD BE TO INCORPORATE TINY SILVER CHAINS INTO THE STITCHING! I HAVE SEEN THIS METHOD ALOT LATELY IN MENS SHIRTS BUT CANNOT FIND THEM IN JEANS OR IN WOMENS WEAR. THE CHAINS LOOK WAY BETTER THAN RHINESTONES AND ALL THAT GLITTERY STUFF! HOPE I GAVE GOOD IDEAS! IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO SEE ONE OF MY IDEAS IN THE STORE ONE DAY!!! B-) Cool

I would love to see a line made for girls with curves! I am not exactly talking about "women's" sizes - just a line that is made to be a bit more forgiving for those who do not have pencil straight legs.

I am desperate for a jean that fits- after having a baby. There's a transition period where maternity pants won't stay up,but regular jeans don't accommodate the postpartum shape. It's torture! So any brand that makes jeans for women with poochy tummies is going to be my new favorite.

Rich and Skinny should incorporate some unique designs and embellishments on their jeans. They would look hot and really make a statement. Designs on the back pockets or down the leg would stand out and draw lots of attention to your outfit. I bet one would receive many compliments and people would ask where to get their own pair of sexy jeans. You can just reply be Rich and Skinny!!:) Smiling

I would love it if Rich and Skinny had even more versatile jeans. Jeans you can wear casually in the day...and rock out with at night! Fit's probably the biggest deal for me. A nice pair of dark jeans that seem to be made just for you can go a long way! Especially if they flatter your curves, or bring them out if you don't have many. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit, usually I get that horrible baggy material thing happening right under my butt! Hm, also more jeans for shorter girls! I went shopping with a friend of mine who is 5'3", and we had the HARDEST time finding jeans that didn't swallow her feet.

I love rhinestones! Something that catches a guy's eye when you are walking by whether it is on the belt loops, on the front pockets or as a design on the back pockets. It just adds a touch of glamour and sexiness!

I think Rich And Skinny should incorporate the 'button fly' into their jeans. Its classic, sophisticated and truthfully as my little cousin says, "Buttons are ALWAYS in." (well especially this season). I’m a true believer in the idea that their are something you just cannot look silly in, some outfits that are just to hip to trendy to beautiful to be folly. Yet jeans, all jeans have a certain flaw- the zip-up fly. You could be wearing the most expensive jeans money can buy and if your fly is down-that’s it- your done. And let’s face it we've all had it happen sometimes you just come out of the bathroom in a mad rush and dont have time to due up that ill tempered zipper. But what’s something you don’t forget to do? Button up that top button! So what’s the harm add three more buttons instead of a zipper and no girl will ever have to face the humiliation of an unzipped fly again! Thanks, Nikki
