My favorite game as a cool-game starved kid in the early 80s was Burgertime. The point of the game was to create hamburgers by walking over layers of the sandwich forcing them to drop down while avoiding being caught by the hot dog, pickle or egg enemies. I think this game has provided me with a very inadequate gaming foundation. My four children spend hours upon hours playing games so complicated and intense that we need strategy guides and websites as back up. "Hey Mom, can you google how to destroy the level #398674 badguy on _______ game?" How I long for the good old days of Burgertime. :-)

I can't believe no one had said pac-man/ ms. pac-man. EVERYONE loved those. Omg i was too into these games. Screaming when being chased by all the ghosts, and then getting super giddy when the tables were turned and I could eat them. HA!! Sweet cherry induced revenge!

My favorite game was Super Mario! I loved it because when I fist picked it up, I was curious wether the brown goombas were my friends or foes - turns out they were enemies. But by playing it, it helped pass the time because I would get bored on car rides, or at birthday parties for my younger relatives. It was exciting back then, and now, it's still fun! =)) Hilarious

SPACE INVADERS! I was a space invaders nerd. That game ate up more of our quarters than any other game. We were invader freaks! Looking back you look at what a simple concept that was (Not as simple as Pong) yet it was so very difficult to accomplish. My girlfriend and I would spend hours and hours trying to protect Earth from the Space Aliens...we acted like we were doing everyone a favor...ahh to be so young and naive! You would become addicted to that game, and you're holding your breath as the invaders keep getting closer and it goes faster and then in a last spastic attempt to knock them off GAME OVER! Aghhhhh! So frustrating yet so ADDICTING (I'm getting all worked up just thinking about it..I need to play me some Invaders!)...but that's why we love 'em!

My favorite old school arcade game is Paperboy- who DIDN’T live vicariously through that endearing little rapscallion? Ah, the little rebel who broke windows and made old ladies shake their fists in rage, the boy who even filled TORNADOS with rage! All kidding aside, Paperboy definitely reminds me of the good old days: a time when kids rode bikes in the neighborhood, people brokedance in the street, we read newspapers in print (crazy) & neon colored backwards caps were all the rage. I love PAPERBOY because life has finally come full circle.. the neon, bikes & reading... it's all coming back in style. I also love that this PAPERBOY was available for Nintendo NES, Gameboy, etc. so that I didn't have to constantly empty my pockets at the arcade! Oh, & the MillionHeir looks very cool, Nintendo DS is such a great console. Perhaps it's about time I don my neon cap and inquire about a papergirl job to get the funds to purchase one.. oh if only I were a million-heir!

Reading everyone's comment brings back so many memories! Memories of when games were simple, fun and cost a quarter to play on a free standing machine! Can't imagine lines of teenage boys lining up with quarters in hand to play Halo! Ah yes...the good ole days! Not sure if Pong would even count as a game as I think my cat could even play. Heaven forbid if I mentioned that I could spend hours moving a stick back and forth to hit an ever increasing in speed ball to my son (picture teenage boy on couch, talking to a dozen other people around the world in a graphic world that makes me dizzy to even watch!) My favorite arcade style game was Donkey Kong! Not even for the thrill of standing for hours doing memorized moves to rescue the damsel in distress. Now I can see why these new game systems can charge the prices they do as I easily spent more than that on games! Maybe one of these days my son will see that I too have some gaming skills! ~ :)
