It looks like my list of reasons to to go Italy just got one longer. Milan's 2008 Week of Design this last month featured the highly anticipated Corian® loves MISSONI exhibition, blending Corian's top-notch design and architecture materials with Missoni's expertly coordinated colors. The result? An awe-inspiring show of shapes and shades taking creativity in design to soaring new levels.
From giant spools to balls of yarn set within a backdrop of two-toned patterns, every aspect was a feast for the eyes and mind, simultaneously pushing the boundaries of design and transforming materials and ideas into concepts that sound unreal until they are seen. A dangling mobile of letters spelling Missoni graces a table decorated in a dizzying array of black and white, drawing the viewer in as a guest to the most fashionable funhouse ever. Signature Missoni stripes climb up walls, wrap around columns, and contrast with monochrome Corian surfaces for a look that is as busy as it is balanced, and as perplexing to the eye as it is pleasing.
