From furniture to home accessories to jewelry, artisans and even mainstream companies are now making objects from one of the greenest materials available: reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood can come from a variety of sources--dilapidated homes, barn beams, and rail road tracks, to name a few--and its use keeps manufacturers from further depleting our world's forests. What's so great about that? Deforestation is one cause of global warming, not to mention all of the wildlife, ecosystems, and biodiversity that are harmed by clearing our forests.
