Celeb Beauty Steal: How to Get Fergie's Haute-Hippie Hairdo!

This year's Teen Choice Awards was a fun-filled event replete with lots of laughs and of course, a myriad of stellar styles from young Hollywood's brightest stars. One of the night's most memorable looks belonged to singer Fergie, who looked vibrant, edgy, and absolutely haute-hippilicious in a flaming fuchsia and red long flowing Etro dress worn with colorful bracelets, an edgy belt, and a long loose boho-braid. Redken stylist Patricia Morales, who styled Fergie's locks for the event, explained "since her dress was very bohemian, we wanted her hair to be a little edgier but still complement her look. I showed her a series of braids I have been working on and she chose the fish tail braids."

To begin, Patricia applied Redken Full Frame 07 Protective Volumizing Mousse, $15.95 and Redken Extreme Anti-Snap, $14.95 to damp hair. This provided the hair with lots of body and volume as well as smoothness and shine, making it easier to create the fishtail.

2) Patricia then rough-dried the hair to maintain Fergie€™s natural texture.

3) She started the braid by creating a low ponytail at the nape of the neck with a center part, then proceeded to create her fish tail securing with elastic then wrapping Fergie€™s own hair around it. (If this is too complex, follow the steps but replace the fishtail with a long, loose braid instead!).

4) Patricia pulled pieces in the front to shape Fergie€™s face and kept the braid to the side and over her shoulder.

To finish, she sprayed Redken Workforce 09 Flexible Volumizing Spray, $14.95, for hold and added shine.
