Celebrate Earth Day With These Eco-Chic Designers!

Earth Day is fast approaching, and in case you haven't sorted out how you will celebrate going green, we bring you some great designers who can help you get started.

Start off with colorful chairs by Susan Spinks and Jim Wolfe - they will make anyone jump on the green bandwagon. Created in sunny Los Angeles, the artist-sculptor collaboration has taken 1950's metal chairs and transformed them into art for your summer days of lounging on the patio.

Designer Tammy Roy of One Eighty Design uses an assortment of reclaimed materials in her furniture, wall art and bowls. Her designs are highly sought after by the growing green retailer market. Her combinations of shapes and patterns, while minimal, bring out the strength and beauty of the reclaimed materials. In her native Wisconsin, she was surrounded by metal in her dad's business. While her pieces are considered eco-chic and upscale, she feels most importantly that they create a story.

Heather Mattingly, of NolaSalvage, is a master at salvaging artifacts from New Orleans and recreating them into mixed media fleur de lis sculptures and shotgun house miniatures. Heather, a full-time carpenter, is highly popular vendor in the Big Easy's local artist's markets.

And if you are looking to buy a new clock, you should check out Debby Arem's modern collection of clocks and frames. Just maybe you will feel a smidgen less guilty about your growing electronics collection. Debby is well-know for her Three Ring Circuits recycled circuit board art and jewelry.

So start celebrating Earth Day with artists who have upcycled our junk and made it into art for our homes. See the slideshow of a dozen great eco-friendly items for your home.
