If your understanding of the inner-workings of the fashion magazine industry is loosely based on repeated viewings of The Devil Wears Prada, get thee to a theater this fall when long-awaited documentary "The September Issue" is finally released. Directed by R.J. Cutler, the film showcases Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour in a light that few people aside from her tight-knit circle of friends and editors have or will ever see her. Behind Wintour's sunglasses and iconic bob haircut is a woman whose taste, opinion, and foresight determines the course of American fashion and the place it holds within the industry worldwide. Designers create collections for all sorts of reasons, above all to impress her-- it's no wonder she's garnered a reputation as someone to be feared. Though tense and demanding on many levels, the film is simultaneously refreshing and entertaining, and truly a rare glimpse into a world that we think we know so much about. The cameras take us through meetings, fashion weeks, and photo shoots so we can gain more understanding of the immense effort that goes into creating the magazine's most important issue. Aware of how she is perceived by those outside of her immediate circle, Wintour remains graceful and unapologetic-- after all, it is her job. The film stars Wintour alongside Grace Coddington, Andre Leon Talley, Patrick Demarchelier and Oscar De La Renta, and will be released on August 28th in NYC and on September 11th nationwide. The Bowtie Is Back!

Are bowties ready for a comeback? I sure hope so! No longer reserved for nerds at prom and Bill Nye the Science Guy, bowties have started popping up here and there. But are they prime for a big return or will it just be a flash-in-the-pan trend like the brief resurgence of men's short shorts? From hipster to hip-hop and all the way uptown to"Gossip Girl" territory, there's no denying that the trend is starting to build. Karl Lagerfeld has been spotted wearing a simple black silk bowtie for some time and Kanye West is rocking them in his sneak peak at his new clothing line Pastelle. Forgotten by fashion and relegated to dweeb territory for years, today's bowtie has a nostalgic kitschy feel that's fresh and new. Ready to jump on this trend? Check out the slideshow for some favorites. Not sure how to even tie a bowtie? Click "See Video" to watch Avvi66's YouTube video, "How to Tie a Bowtie" for a step-by-step how-to.

Michael Jackson: "The Way You Make Me Feel"

Yesterday's news that Michael Jackson had passed away was a shock to not just the music world, but the world as a whole. Though headlines in recent years painted the entertainer as bizarre and reclusive, fans of the King of Pop will remember him as a superstar whose unparalleled talent and dedication to charity made him a living legend and an icon of our generation. Ask anyone which Michael Jackson hit is their favorite and you'd be hard pressed not to find someone who doesn't list at least five. His dancing was infectious, and his music videos were unforgettable-- in all of his uniqueness, he managed to unite us all. Let's go back to "The Way You Make Me Feel" from 1987's "BAD"-- who could forget the skintight black dress, the big hair, and the high heels? And of course, those moves. He will truly be missed, but his influence will remain forever.

Video Style Steal: Lykke Li In "Breaking It Up"

Many pop stars throw around some sultry rock n' roll looks for their videos and magazine spreads, leaving us feeling like they're playing dress up. Not as much can be said for Swedish songstress Lykke Li-- she is the real deal. With her long blond hair and angelic eyes rimmed in black liner she is one part angel, one part rock goddess. In her video for hit song "Breaking It Up," she exudes fierce and unapologetic sex appeal. The video feels as though it's set in a modern day Warhol-esque factory and features Lykke dancing around in a totally enviable outfit. A body conscious black dress topped off with an oversized white jacket and some black booties may sound boring at first, but it's anything but. To get the look, try Opening Ceremony's zip up back lattice dress. While she wears a more exaggerated silhouette jacket, I think the Madison Marcus "Alliance" jacket would work just as well. Dangerously high black booties are funked up a little bit by layering some mid calf white socks. Don't forget to pile on the rings- one on each finger if you can, or fake it with Bijules' bar ring that covers three fingers. A long statement chain necklace adds the perfect amount of glam and rock chic making simple black and white look so good. Watch the video and check out the slideshow to see how to get Lykke's look!

Solange Brings Retro Sound And Fashion-Forward Style In "Sandcastle Disco"

Solange Knowles is making a name for herself in the music world, finding her own niche and style. Back in the Destiny's Child days when big sis Beyonce, was busy becoming a household name, Solange was also trying her hand at music. She made a few cameos in videos, but she really just came across as a mini-Beyonce. Her style was a junior and less sassy version of her older, more famous, counterpart. Whoever marketed her music saw the success of Destiny's Child and the hip-pop/ R&B sound and tried to emulate that in Solange's image. Solange was able to gain a little recognition, but was still mostly recognized as "Beyonce's sister." After laying low in music for a few years and only modeling for the occasional Dereon ad (an urban streetwear company headed by Beyonce and their mother, Tina Knowles), Solange has returned with her catchy, retro-soul album named Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. The songs have an old school feel with trippy beats and a tint of funk and blues. The music is tight, the lyrics are sincere and the beats get you moving. Her style, however, is the biggest and most pleasant surprise. From bright colors, extreme details, fashion-forward silhouettes and risk-taking ensembles, Solange shows that she has grown into her own woman and is setting the standards for her own sound and style. Check out the colorful, fun and fabulous looks of rompers and dresses in Solange's video for "Sandcastle Disco" and then check out the slideshow to see how you can adopt her look into your own everyday wardrobe!

I like Ralph Lauren's Polo style for a number of reasons. It's classic, it's comfortable, it's clean. And the main reason to like Ralph Lauren's Polo? The hot-blooded, tightly muscled, gorgeous male models for their Polo fragrances! The latest sexy hunk to join the ranks of handsome male Polo models is Ignacio "Nacho" Figueras. This rugged 25 year old hottie hails from Argentina and is an actual polo player! Nacho Figueras first started playing polo at the age of nine and at the young age of just 17, he began a professional polo career. Now at 25, Figueras has competed in many prestigious polo tournaments and is currently Captain of the Blackwatch Polo Team in New York. He's not just a jock, though! Figueras is also an ambassador for the sport and breeds horses at his Buenos Aires ranch. He also enjoys sailing and traveling. The only downside to this tall, dark and handsome Argentinian? Move over, Audrey Tautou for Chanel -- couture cinema is a hot trend in the advertising world, and Marion Cotillard (along with her covetable collection of Dior accessories) is the new face of these fashionable mini-films. Reunited with La Vie en Rose director Olivier Dahan, the dynamic duo seeks to make movie magic not for the sake of Oscar glory this time around, but for dramatizing Dior's Lady Dior collection with a series of four mysteriously chic Film Noir-inspired installments. The first mini-film, "Lady Noire" includes all the best aspects of a good film noir flick from the muted colors to its fashionable femme fatale and slew of ridiculously well-dressed thugs -- in fact, I have to admit I spent more time checking out the killer designer loot than attempting to follow its sly storyline. Check out the trailer below, then watch the full mini-film at the official Lady Dior site to get hooked on the four-part saga. If you're really intrigued, you can even follow Lady Dior on Twitter for clues on cracking the case and news on the next upcoming installments!

Create Your Own "Love Story"-Themed Wedding

How perfect would it be if you could turn your wedding memories into a hit-music video? Or, even better, the opposite-- if you could turn your favorite music video into your wedding? Young country starlet Taylor Swift's not even hitched but has already cast her vision for the perfect flashback to a beautiful summer air, Romeo and Juliet-style wedding in her ballad "Love Story." Escape from reality with a wedding that makes you look and feel like classic royalty. Taylor's wardrobe in the video is one-of-a-kind, but elements of her beautiful bodice can be found in dress styles that are true to Taylor's true-love tastes. A gown identical to Taylor as Juliet's would have to be custom-tailored from snapshot samples, but check out the slideshow to browse these "Love Story"-inspired wedlock wonders!

Anna Wintour Responds To Being Called A "Cold Bitch"

image
"60 Minutes" devoted a 13-minute segment to profiling Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, this weekend. Journalist Morley Safer described Wintour as "a name that strikes terror in some, loathing in others, and transforms some into obsequious toadies." Not that his observation is incorrect, but, geez, what a way to introduce someone. But it didn't stop there. If the "60 Minutes" profile didn't have you both squealing at the high-profile cameos (Karl Lagerfeld! Andre Leon Talley!) and getting just a little bit hot under your Chanel jacket collar, maybe you're a bigger ice queen than this supposed queen of the ice queens herself. Anna Wintour has been editor-in-chief of Vogue for 21 years. She's an A-lister's A-lister. She dominates the gossip pages and hosts the star-studded Met Ball every year, which most celebs would kill to attend. She makes-- and breaks-- careers in fashion and entertainment. Yet the question that opened her TV profile? Morley Safer of "60 Minutes" asked Anna Wintour if is a bitch. Seriously. Watch the video to see it all and head on over to The Frisky to read about their thoughts on the interview.
