6 Geeky Gimmicky Cameras That Are Way More Fun Than Your Canon!

Whether you're a true studied photographer or simply rely on your iPhone and TwitPic to document your daily adventures, nowadays everyone's got the photo bug in some form or another. But have you noticed that despite the ever-increasing accessibility, portability and quality of cameras with all the latest tech developments, all the newly released digi gadgets have just started to look and function basically the same? Quick and convenient, sure, but borrring! Bring the creativity back to picture-taking and add some variety to those thousands of extended arm self-portraits you have tagged on Facebook with a novelty camera. Print photos instantly on the go with the Fuji Instax Camera (no need to scrounge around for your USB cord!), or create pop art portraits with the Pop Cam from Fred Flare. These novelty cameras aren't exactly a practical replacement for your usual point-and-shoot, but they're a fun addition to anyone who loves living behind the lens! Hot In The Hive: Revo Heritage Table Radio

Sure, retro "gadgets" may look cool in a stylishly old-fashioned sort of way, but when it comes to actually using them, our geeky reliance on modern-day tech has us too cyber-spoiled and impatient to put any effort in something that can't keep up with our 3G speediness. The solution? A techie piece of equipment that just looks vintage, but packs all the convenient specs and capabilities of the most recent releases in the gadget world. The Revo Heritage Table Radio has the 60s-style walnut veneer surface, but boasts some seriously modern features in that retro-looking package: an iPod dock, WiFi for all your favorite internet stations, wireless streaming from your laptop, a remote control for maximum laziness, and even an alarm clock in case you doze off while listening to your tunes. It's the perfect device for the music lover who may have an old soul... but secretly can't live without a healthy dose of modern tech!

Feather Report: New iPhone App To Help You Get Dressed!

Fashion + Weather = Feather. My friend Melisa of Feather Report and The Lil Bee has just launched the Feather Report iPhone app. Look to it as your own portable, personal style consultant. You'll never have to look out the window and wonder, "What am I gonna wear today?" It's rainy today in SF and this is the outfit that was picked out for me. I love it! What's great is that each of the items listed in the outfit for today are linked so you can purchase them directly from your iPhone. If I like today's outfit, I can easily save it to my favorites with a press of a button. I love to get exposed to new pieces of clothing and how to put them all together. Using a GPS weather tracker, Feather Report serves up a new outfit to your iPhone each day, based on your specific location. Outfits are categorized based on body types, occasions, and weather patterns. You can also search for outfits based on your individual needs such as Date Night, Out with the Girls, etc. If you're traveling, get weather forecasts for your upcoming trips. Sounds cool? WhatsWear Has Discovered A Way To Tweet In Gold And Diamonds

Twitter just became a whole lot more relevant to me. For today I learned that Twitter can now be something I wear around my neck... in gold.. and diamonds. Survival of the Hippest is a hot new accessories line inspired by the same social networking system that caused Miley Cyrus to rap and LL to fight even more publicly with Samantha Ronson. Using your TwitterName (or "hashtag" comment if you know what the hell this is), SOTH creates beautiful jewelry -- fairly reminiscent of the name necklaces made popular by Carrie Bradshaw. They are custom-made out of sterling silver, 14k gold and [drool] diamonds, and can be placed on a necklace, a key chain, a bracelet, an anklet or a pin. As SOTH pointed out, wearing your Twitter ID around a visible body part will helpfully point you out to your virtual friends, who they note "may not recognize you from your proper name or tiny Twitter picture"... seriously, a SOTH piece isn't just fashionable, it is your gilded token to making actual flesh-and-blood friends! Also, we must mention these necklaces and bracelets work perfectly as a fun layering piece or as a unique present for your friend who has everything. You can even show these Twitterific pieces to your grandchildren while explaining the Twitter phenomenon. Think about it, they'll most likely be vintage in just a couple decades! When you're not busy tweeting, don't forget to visit our friends at WhatsWear for more unique design finds!

Hot In The Hive: Pac-Man Plug-And-Play Joystick

If you've ever wolfed down an entire pepperoni pie by yourself just for an excuse to hang out at the local pizzeria and beat those kids' scores on the ancient Galaga machine (okay, maybe that's just me), have I got the gadget for you! This super-retro Pac-Man joystick literally looks like it was jacked straight out of the arcade and modernized to fit conveniently on your lap or coffee table. Just pop in some batteries and plug the device into your TV and you instantly have a long night ahead of you in old school gamer girl heaven. With 12 classic arcade games in one compact console, you can officially save the trip to the pizza joint (and the calories that inevitably come with it) and you can geek out in the privacy and convenience of your own home (unless, of course, you want to invite the whole building over for a tournament).

Hot In The Hive: HeartBeats Earbuds By Lady GaGa

By now, you've probably at least heard of the rhythm-thumping Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, if not seen them around town conspicuously perched on the heads of commuting musicophiles everywhere. They're not cheap, and they're certainly not discreet, but they do deliver some seriously stellar sound quality for your favorite mp3s. But what if your style-conscious self isn't crazy about over-the-ear headphones... and even less in love with the $300 price tag? Thankfully, someone equally style-savvy (but perhaps much more "experimentally" so) has designed her own fashionable equivalent without sacrificing the sound value. Lady Gaga's HeartBeats, designed by the pantsless wonder herself, are sleek and chic and help deliver club caliber sound despite their tiny in-ear package. If you're not a serious stickler for sound clarity, you might be okay with sticking to your regular iPod buds, but if you strive to turn your morning walk to work into your own personal runway/dance floor, the HeartBeats may be your next go-to gadget!

Price: $99.95

Hot In The Hive: MovieWedge

Man, do I wish I had discovered the MovieWedge in time for my last sleepless red-eye flight to New York! Think of the plushy little media player stand as a bean bag chair for your iPod -- it's tiny, squishy and portable, and props up your device at an adjustable viewing angle so you can watch videos on your device hands-free. Anyone who's had to entertain themselves on the go knows it's a pain to have to hold your player for hours at a time (or at least until your downloads run its battery life dry). Now you and your iPod can be cozy just about anywhere as it sits atop its little perch on any tray table, arm rest, or even on your lap!

Price: $9.95

Hot In The Hive: iTwinge iPhone Keyboard

I think I'm one of the few people left in this world who still refuse to join the iPhone cult. I'll admit it, sometimes I get a little jealous when I see people at the gym listening to their music and making calls from one sleek device while I'm trying to juggle my PDA and my prehistoric video iPod... but I'm sorry -- I NEED a keyboard! REAL buttons that you push. Not a touchscreen with pretend keys and a "word predictor" that tries to guess what I'm trying to type through the inevitable typos. It shouldn't have to guess! Apparently our friends over at Mobile Mechatronics had the same frustrations, because they came up with one seriously genius idea: the iTwinge. It's an attachable keyboard that simply slips on over your iPhone, providing REAL push-able buttons for more accurate (and quicker) texting and e-mailing. Of course, I'm not sure if the convenience of having keys is worth having to constantly take the device on and off whenever you're done with an e-mail or text... so while this clever add-on is definitely worth the splurge for curious iPhone owners, I'm not sure if it's cool enough to make a convert out of a Palm girl like me!

Price: $29.99

Hot In The Hive: Bluetooth Mini Phone

Don't you love laughing at the crazy-looking people on the street who look like they're talking to themselves but are really just using a handy-dandy hands-free device? Or how about those folks driving on the freeway who look like they're bopping and singing along to the radio but are really just making a business call from that huge hunk of Bluetooth-activated plastic attached to their ear? If you're considering your own mobile accompaniment but don't want to look like you're deep in conversation with the voices inside your own head, look no further than the Bluetooth Mini Phone. Shaped like an actual handheld receiver, you can wear the phone like a semi-stylish pendant necklace & then when you want to make a call, you just pick it up and press call and start chatting! Oh. Wait. So it's not actually hands-free... but it's still pretty cute, and a clever sort of gimmick. And, uh, a great conversation starter?
