Which CW Starlet Looked The Hottest At Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood Party?

Somehow Teen Vogue's annual Young Hollywood Party seemed so much more laid-back without having to watch Lauren Conrad run around backstage on the verge of tears like a chicken with its head cut off. While I'm sure there were plenty of other interns slaving behind the wings making sure it all ran smoothly, the event was much more enjoyable from our view on the red carpet. After all, what's a Teen Vogue party without the chance to really check out the entrance ensembles! With all the black, chrome, and grey dresses and pantsuits, I couldn't help but ask myself, has fall finally arrived, or is everyone just feeling "blah" tonight? And also, who are some of these people? I had to give credit to CW's newest bad girl, Katie Cassidy, for brightening the mood with a seriously colorful corseted number... while her fellow station-pals Jessica Stroup and AnnaLynne McCord kept it cool in monochrome. Vote below on which CW actress repped her re-make show the best on the red carpet! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Coquette Will Attend Fashion's Night Out At Coach!

I'm really excited that I'll be a special guest of Coach attending their Fashion's Night Out event on Thursday, September 10th at the Coach Flagship store at 595 Madison Avenue. Coach is hosting a one-of-a-kind fete that will feature famed graffiti artist Pesu and whimsical, Brooklyn-based illustrator Kiersten Essenpreis, creating completely customized and off-the-cuff creations! Both artists will be using Coach's limited edition Fashion's Night Out tote as their canvas and will be in store from 7pm until 10pm, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres served. I can't wait to see these artists work their magic on the totes! Don't forget to check back at Coquette for my report of the evening!

Amsterdam International Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Ontfront

Initially started in 2005 as a platform for young designers and artists, Ontfront didn't take long to get swept up by the fashion scene. The line found its niche in a creative and functional fusion of urban streetwear and professionalism known as Sidewalk Tailoring. Nowadays, Ontfront is a statement and huge success within the Amsterdam fashion and club scene. National and international fashion-forward celebrities like Emmy Award nominated DJ Diplo and Musiq Soulchild are dressed in some of their designs. For the Spring/Summer 2010 collection that Ontfront showed at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week, they continued to impress with the theme "Tonight is the Knight," which was evident by their brawny statures and iron gloves. The diverse collection was said to be inspired by the brave medieval knight, with the sophistication of comfortable heroism for the modern-day cavalier. With a collection of fitted tees and polos, button-down shirts and tailored suits, the designs certainly broke the mold of modern menswear with its fresh and edgy details. Check the slideshow for pictures of Ontfront's stylish knight parade!

Kiehl's "Recycle and Be Rewarded"

Long gone are the days where good achievements are rewarded with gold stars and a big A+...or are they? Maybe they've just been replaced with something better! Now you can gather up all your used Kiehl's bottles, jars and tubes and take them to a Kiehl's free-standing store for recycling through the "Recycle and Be Rewarded program". For your hard work and trouble, you'll receive a card to collect stamps for each container you recycle in store. The more bottles you turn in the more generous the samples and gifts get. Score a free tube of Lip Balm #1 with your third container returned and an item from the Official Kiehl's Travel Collection with your fifth. Make it all the way to 10 stamps and a filled card, you can choose any one regular sized product valued at $25 or less. It's green for the environment and helps you keep the green in your wallet. Visit kiehls.com for a store near you.

Tweens And "Twilight" Take Over The MTV Movie Awards

Imagine an awards show during which the biggest honorees of the night bear the names Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, and Ashley Tisdale, and the film "Twilight" completely annihilates all hopes for even one "Slumdog Millionaire" trophy. No, I'm not talking about some alternate preteen-ruled universe or your worst nightmare (well, on second thought, maybe I am) -- I'm referring to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, where the musical high school kids and the undead heartthrobs swept about 90% of the winnings and left no crazy fan-girls unsatisfied. Before Andy Samberg kicked off the event with an epically hilarious opening clip and before the teeny-boppers got to gushing accepting speeches for their popcorn trophies (and dropping them -- *cough* Kristen Stewart *cough*), their fellow young Hollywood crowd tore up the red carpet in sexy (and some not-so-sexy) party dresses, strappy boots, leather jackets and... leopard-print leotards? From Megan Fox (what was up with her hair?) to Lil Mama (yikes), the ensembles weren't all home-runs, but they certainly weren't boring! Check the slideshow for some hit and miss highlights straight from the one of the most "lively" red carpets the event has seen! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Bring Your Old Juicy Clothes To Select Stores And Get 20% Off!

Did you have a Juicy Couture phase, the remnants of which are in a terry cloth and velour pile in the back of your closet? Starting this week, the brand will kick off its second annual "Juicy Gives: Recycle Your Couture" program, where you'll receive a 20% discount for bringing in old Juicy items to 12 select stores nationwide. The old clothes will then be donated to women's shelters near each of the stores. Co-founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor had this to say: "It is a huge priority for us to give back, and by donating Juicy clothes to local women's shelters, Juicy can extend its charitable reach even further!" So why not rationalize the infamous tracksuit purchase of 2001, help women in need, and use your discount to scoop up this adorable swim set? The event ends Tuesday, May 19th, so start cleaning out those closets!

Academy Of Art University Runway: Womenswear Dares To Dress To Impress

Last Thursday, Stylehive went to San Francisco's Academy of Art Graduation Fashion Show, where over forty graduating BFA and MFA students presented their designs to a packed audience. The show was anything but predictable with designers inspired by anything from demilitarization, shells, and children's book Where the Wild Things Are. Some fashion design students and textile design students actually collaborated with each other to create some amazing pieces. Designers Eun Na Hwang and Lauren N. Herrera came together with romantic and vintage inspired floral prints with modern geometric and architectural shapes. Jewelry pieces were very avant-garde with delicate wire sculptures that looked like they were sprouting out of the model's shoulders to metal flowers embellishing the front of a dress. I got to talk to a few designers at the reception before the show and many were eager to land a job after graduation or travel to Europe to learn more fashion design skills. Whatever they plan on doing, I expect nothing less than bright futures for all of them! Take a look at my slideshow for some of my favorite looks from the show. Photo credit: Randy Brooke

Academy Of Art University Runway: Dahae Kim Cuts The Edge Of Menswear

If James Bond had a young, hip son that adored the likes of Nice Collective and John Varvatos, but wanted to wear a perfect marriage of the two, he'd have to go to Dahae Kim. From the moment her boldly-hued red suit came out on to the runway, the crowd knew they were in for a treat. Popping with structure and more-than-meets-the-eye detail, Kim's collection has an urban operative vibe that is in tune with contemporary fashion. It's sleek. It's sexy. It's now. Best of all, it's a nitrous boost of innovation that can easily carve its way into the world of modern menswear. Each look that came down the runway was thoughtful and injected with a mix of rockstar, hipster and dandyism. From afar, the coats and blazers that stomped their way down the runway (in some adamant-looking combat boots I might add) looked simple-chic, but up close, the detailing is immaculate. Seam lines and collar manipulation keep sartorial senses tingling while strategically placed zippers and atypical menswear silhouettes marched down the runway with a modest, yet unapologetic intensity. With her inspiration of disarmament and demilitarization, Kim is right ahead of the curve when it comes to men's fashion. Don't forget to check out the slideshow to see more of her work! Academy Of Art University Runway: Scott McFarland Makes Knitwear For The Modern Man

Scott McFarland uses his fine talents as a sculptor to mold yarn into some knitwear. For men. In light shades of pink. Before all you manly men grunt this off and go shotgun a beer, hear me out. McFarland has a distinct eye when it comes to fashion and knitwear design. His collection (which was also shown at New York Fashion Week in February) ingeniously contains knitwear inspired by Art Deco patterns, metal work, architecture and '20s androgyny. The chunky knit coats and sweaters are infused with patterns of diamonds and three-dimensional texture that give each piece a whimsical personality. His vision is cohesive, but the experimental knitting techniques are discreet. Besides being a maestro with fine-quality yarn, McFarland created his own yarn by cutting lace fabric into strips and hand knitting them into heavier knits for his outsized coats. The color palette of pale pinks, grays and blues are soft, but the construction of the collection is very strong. In other words, it has the sensitivity for a woman and the swagger of a gentleman. With each piece you can't help but be intrigued by McFarland's knitwear. Any modern dapper gentleman would get pulled into this orbit and wouldn't mind taking some of his brilliant pieces of clothing for a test drive. Check out the slideshow for some photos snapped right off the runway! Photo Credit: Randy Brooke
