Cate Blanchett's Stylist Tells How To Get Her Red Carpet Locks

Even though she was robbed of (I mean didn€™t win) an award, Cate Blanchett looked flawless at the Screen Actor€™s Guild Awards. Cate wore her hair in soft, loose waves, which infused her classic, old-school Hollywood beauty with a more laid back, playful vibe - perfect for the ecstatic mother-to-be. As soon as Cate slipped into the stunning Balenciaga gown she and her fashion and beauty team decided a simple hairstyle that wouldn€™t overpower the intricate dress was the way to go.

Enter Matrix celebrity stylist Marc Townsend, Cate€™s go-to hair guru for almost four years. Fortunately Marc is sharing the love, and dishing on exactly how he created Cate€™s goddess-like locks!

Marc applied Biolage Hydro- Foaming Styler throughout Cate€™s damp locks to add a little more texture, and then blow-dried her hair using a round brush.

Once the hair was dry, Marc used a one inch HAI Elite Curling Iron, taking random 1-3 inch sections of hair and wrapping them around the iron.
Insider tip: According to Marc, the secret to getting perfect curls and waves is to never actually open the iron- just wrap the hair around it while it€™s still closed.

Mark then lathered his palms with Biolage Smoothth̩rapie Smoothing Serum and raked it through Cate۪s hair to loosen the curls into soft, flowing waves.

To finish, Mark used Biolage Complete Control Hairspray to softly set the look and keep it intact throughout the night.

I am definitely doing at lesat one night during New York Fashion Week. Thanks Marc!
