Real Leather Jackets For Under $250!

Oh, the leather jacket. Never before has one piece garnered so much attention in the "save or splurge" category. You know the pros and cons of each by now, so let's jump ahead to a much more exciting debate: real vs. faux leather. Faux leather is usually easy to distinguish from real, and a faux jacket can run you anywhere from $40 at Forever 21 to almost $200 at Urban Outfitters. While there are gems to be found, my guess is you're giving up either quality fabric (not that good faux leather doesn't exist) or quality construction-- two things that can make or break your purchase. Real leather jackets, while often considerably more expensive, are generally going to be of a higher overall quality, regardless of the material, so if you plan on wearing your jacket regularly for more than one season, you may want to invest in the real deal. I've found several real leather jackets that retail for less than $250, and if you can dig up a coupon code or are brave enough to play the game known as "I'll wait 'til it goes on sale," you can snap one of these up for quite the steal. The trick is to look in places you may not normally frequent! So-called "mom brands" like Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, and Jones New York happen to have gorgeous leather jackets that easily rival the trend pieces you'd see in any high-end shop-- at about a third of the price. "Vampire Diaries" actress Kayla Ewell isn't afraid to rock hot pink on the red carpet. The dress she donned at a special screening of "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" at the 2009 AFI Fest Opening Night Gala is proof that you can wear neons and metallics in the same outfit without looking like you're headed to a rave. The dress (which I am unfortunately unable to identify, despite a frantic Google search) was part pink, part pared-down, thus providing an ideal backdrop for her stunning accessory of choice: a pile of knotted, dangling silver chains. Black nail polish and a silver clutch added the party-perfect finishing touches. The main point to remember in making this look work is to keep a balance- the metallic part of the dress was on the matte side, while the necklace brought a flashy element. Striped Tees And Accessories Make Looking Chic A Snap!

If you took a peek inside my closet, you'd notice two main things: a stack of little/medium/big brown bags that I should probably hide, and an abundance of stripes- striped tees, striped cardigans, striped sweaters, and maybe even a striped scarf or two. Needless to say I'm convinced you can never really have too many striped pieces, and as far as versatile classics go, stripes are easily my favorite. Whether you go for an original nautical staple from Saint James or a contemporary update from Splendid, a well-fitting striped top is the easiest route to chic simplicity and really couldn't be more effortless. If patterned tops aren't really your thing, a striped handbag is equally stylish -- an iconic hobo from Bendel's is playful and luxurious to boot. Feeling adventurous? Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen To Design Juniors Line For JCPenney

It's no secret that everything the Olsen twins touch turns to gold, whether it's a trend or a business endeavor (and they've proven themselves to be more than successful in the latter- just look to The Row and Elizabeth & James, plus their shoe and jewelry lines). Their latest move? They've signed a deal with JCPenney to design a juniors brand called Olsenboye. Clearly aimed at the younger crowd, the line will contain denim, tees, and other casual looks including shoes and bags, all priced between $20 and $50. It'll be available in 50 JCPenney stores and online starting November 6th! If you can't wait until then and are in the NYC area today, stop by Washington Square park and catch the Olsenboye Treat Truck where you can preview the collection.
