Vintage Fashionistas Master Mad Men Style!

They did it again! Mad Men took honors for Best Dramatic Television Series for the third year in a row at this year's Golden Globes. And while I tune in to the show for the banter, confrontations and day-to-day happenings at Sterling Cooper, as a vintage fashionista, it's an extra-special treat to view costume designer Jane Bryant's hard work each week. As we await the highly-anticipated 4th season and the return of the show's glamorous female characters, many of us are deciding to ditch our jeans and glam it up a bit ourselves. It seems Jane Bryant has single-handedly created a renewed interest and demand for figure-hugging dresses, glamorous peignoirs and shoulder-baring spaghetti straps. And there's nothing like the real deal: authentic vintage finds from the 1960s. So try some of these glitzy gowns with your next highball or martini. Just click the slideshow to see the selection!

10 Red Carpet-Ready Vintage Dresses

Hollywood's Award Season has officially begun and while umbrellas were the most popular accessory at this year's Golden Globes, it takes more than a little rain to stop the glitz and glamour. Of course, only a few celebrities dared to wear vintage at the Globes--most notably Julia Roberts in vintage YSL and Penelope Cruz in vintage Armani--but a vintage fashionista can hold out hope that we'll see more smashing vintage evening wear strutting down red carpets in the week's ahead. Of course, donning a vintage evening gown doesn't guarantee that you'll end up on a best-dressed list---you still need a discerning eye!---but reaching back to the early era of Hollywood glamour can certainly give you a fashion edge. Just take a look at this little collection of vintage evening gowns that are Red Carpet-ready! Click the slideshow to see the selection.

Vintage Fashionists Put On The Gloves

Just because it doesn't get cold enough for you to throw a snowball where you live is no reason to ignore the season's most fun fashion accessory--gloves! These little lovelies aren't just for skiers and snowboarders. Oh, no, no, no. There are leather, velvet, suede, lace, cotton, silk and sheer versions to please every fashionista under the sun. Plus you can quickly amass a huge collection that will easily tuck away in a small box at the end of the season. Not sure of your glove size? Simply wrap a tape measure loosely around the palm of your dominant hand and round up to the nearest half-inch or inch. Then choose your favorite from this fab little collection of vintage gloves by simply clicking on the slideshow.

Vintage Fashionistas Carry Their Cash In Style

Smart fashionistas know they should always calculate Cost-per-Wear (CPW) when deciding if a potential purchase is a good value. For instance, a top quality winter coat might cost more initially, but it should wear much better and last for far more years than its inferior quality cousin. So what at first glance seems like the bargain choice could actually cost you more to wear over the long run. Get it? CPW is an especially important consideration for those pieces you use frequently. And one of those frequently used pieces that is often given too little attention is your wallet. It never ceases to amaze me when I see a totally chic gal decked out perfectly from head-to-toe pulling out a ratty old wallet from a designer handbag. So why not grab one of these fab vintage wallets with price tags that will leave quite a few extra bills to tuck in the billfold and lower your CPW to a few pennies a day? Vintage Fashionistas Turn To Turquoise!

Pantone has been a worldwide authority on color for 45 years and when they talk, fashionistas listen. Last year, the Pantone-favored hue was mimosa yellow, which we definitely saw echoed in spring and summer fashions. And for 2010, Pantone's pick for the Color of the Year is... (drumroll please)... Pantone 15-5519, otherwise known as turquoise! Not quite blue, not quite green, but an inviting hybrid of the two, turquoise evokes thoughts of crystal blue lagoons and pristine, pollution-free skies. Most importantly, it's a color that pairs beautifully with whites, neutrals and browns and adds punch when paired with red. So expect to see turquoise-flavored accessories, jewelry, and clothing showing up soon. In the meantime, grab one of these fab vintage turquoise finds and get a jump start on the Year of Turquoise. Vintage Fashionistas Love Their Feathered Friends!

Ooh-la-la! There is something so chic and elegant about feathers in fashion and they are definitely having their moment. Feathers showed up on the Spring 2010 runways of Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, Rodarte, and more. But one has to wonder why they aren't viewed the same way as fur when it comes to issues of animal cruelty. Sure, most feathers used in fashion do come from animals provided to the meat industry, but PETA reports that there's no kind way to obtain feathers and most birds have them painfully removed while still alive. Ouch! So, if you insist on indulging a feathered fashion whim, please choose vintage so at least you'll prevent one more animal from being harmed. And there are plenty of beautiful vintage goodies to choose from. Just click the slideshow to see the selection!

Fashionistas Have Sweet Dreams in Vintage Lingerie

The term lingerie comes from the Old French linge, which referred to scandalous underclothes. Though the term was not in widespread use until the 1850s, the history of lingerie itself started centuries earlier, back in ancient Egypt around 3000 BC. And while the choice for men may center around something as simple as boxers or briefs, we women have so much more to consider: peignoirs, chemises, nighties, camisoles, slips, crinolines and teddies -- both racy and demure. Now we gals know that buying luxurious lingerie is not necessarily practical, but we also know that this form of self-indulgence can have a subconscious impact on the way we look and feel -- even if no one gets to witness our underpinnings. So choose one of these beauties from past decades and bring on some sweet dreams. Just click the slideshow to see the selection.

Vintage Fashionistas Love the Prince of Prints

When Emilio Pucci scribbled his signature across his designs, it marked the debut of a designer's name as an external logo. But Pucci wasn't content to just make dresses. His designs included the now famous Braniff International Airlines uniforms, the logo for the Apollo 15 space mission, tableware for Rosenthal, and even the interior of a Ford Lincoln Continental! Now vintage designs by this "Prince of Prints" are legendary and forever popular because they make any girl feel like a "Princess of Prints." Whether its for day or evening, no one rocks bold, brightly colored graphics better than this CFDA award winner and this fabulous little collection of vintage Pucci frocks shows off his genius. They're all perfect finds for vintage fashionistas! Just click the slide show to see the selection.

Vintage Fashionistas Savor Gray This Season!

When searching for vintage clothing online, it's important that you use the right keywords to find what you want. And heaven forbid you're looking for something gray, because well, there's gray (the American spelling) and then there's grey (the British spelling). Of course, since vintage clothing sellers on both sides of the pond spell this color both ways without any sensible rhyme or reason, the wise online vintage shopper knows to plug both spellings into their search engines. If you do, you'll be rewarded with a smorgasbord of vintage treats in this classic, conservative neutral. Try substituting darker charcoal shades of gray for black. Or choose pale shades of gray to take the place of white. Morning, noon or night, for dresses, coats or evening gowns, gray is a fabulous wardrobe choice for a vintage fashionista.
