Chanel Fall 2009 Venice Makeup Collection

Coco Chanel viewed Venice as a city of great intrigue - simultaneously dramatic and fragile, much like herself. The Chanel Makeup Studio used their imagination to bring this water-themed city to life for Fall 2009 in a palette reflective of its shimmery facades, mosaics, and sparkly aquatic lagoons. Chanel's Global Creative Director, Peter Philips, recently created Venetian-inspired runway looks for the 2009/10 Cruise show - held on the beaches of Venice - with tones of rich sienna, deep rose, mysterious greys, and dusky greens that can be softened for day or emboldened come evening. Sexy And Stylish Shoes That Are Vegan And Totally Green!

Noticing a decided lack of anything remotely sexy in the way of vegan shoes, Rebecca Mink - a lifelong animal and earth activist - created her own: glamorous, towering luxury kicks made from sustainable, non-animal resources including rubber, wood, cork, and organic fabrics. When she first showed up in Italy almost 10 years ago, sketches in hand, 16 factories showed her the door, refusing to consider manufacturing such an unprecedented product. Luckily Marco Gambassi, whose family has crafted shoes for generations, viewed her project as a creative challenge. And thanks to Italian engineering, when Mink shoes were machine-tested for durability, they outlasted their conventional counterparts, proving that non-leather is a viable footwear option for green fashionistas. These "Vulture" cork wedges with delicate double ankle straps (as seen here in Lucky April 2009) could possibly be the perfect summer heel. Available by special order only - email info@minkshoes.com. Meet Rad Hourani, Indie Fashion Designer Darling

If the relentless, marketing-driven McFashion Machine has you trend-weary, Rad Hourani feels your pain. "I'm allergic to trends," explains the cerebral designer in the latest edition of prim. Magazine. "There's nothing scarier than making fashion - or anything else, for that matter - that everyone agrees on." Unlike so many of his big-name peers on the luxury conglomerate payroll, Hourani makes gender-blind clothing ("for people who do not define themselves primarily as men or women") that are independent even of the seasons, fashion or otherwise. "Fashion is about clothes transcending simple functionality and gaining symbolic, evocative power by engaging in a dialogue with their environment and time." Summer Florals For Your Inner Retro Girlie-Girl

Summer weekends were made for swingy floral frocks like this one from Unique Vintage - brightly hued, unapologetically feminine, and sweet (like you!). The vintage styling begs for feminine accessories that are ladylike, but not too retro (lacks imagination) which is why this geometric bamboo bag couldn't be more perfect. With anything pink - ditto red, green, or royal purple - never ever be tempted to wear shoes that match...it looks beyond cheesy. Instead, go for nude tones both with your bag & shoes (these are by Easy Spirit) - which have the added benefit of making your legs look that much longer. To complete the picture, add some delicate amethyst and gold earrings and coordinating rose-tinted Miu Miu sunglasses. Check out FashionTribes for more!

Surf Into Target For Some Tracy Feith!

As a skateboarder in the early 80s, Texas-born Tracy Feith started customizing his skate threads to match his free-spirited, punk personality. He later refined his skills at art school, and ended up working in the fashion industry creating the colorful, boho-luxe vibe -- which looks as good on the beach as the red carpet -- that has since become his signature. His new limited-edition line for Target is reminiscent of 70s surf life (especially with retro-ready prices ranging from $15-$140), featuring tees, swimwear, summery separates, flowy frocks and girlie skirts in bold hues, tiered ruffles, and prints both trippy and tropical on washed-down fabrics. A black leather biker jacket tossed over a daisy-print pinafore oozes carefree style, while a number 8 muscle tee with a print skater skirt is beach party-ready. "Tracy Feith designs for women who are sophisticated and chic [like fans Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, and Michelle Obama], but also know how to express their individuality," says Trish Adams, senior VP at Target. "His Bohemian-inspired, spirited aesthetic is a fresh take for the GO International program, providing designer fashion at guilt-free prices." Tracy Feith for Target is available starting May 17, 2009 at Target.com. Until then, make sure to check out Fashiontribes for more Spring and Summer fashion news and trends!
