Reem Acra, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week
Right now we€™re in that annoying place I like to call fashion limbo. While the weather is still frigid, winter clothing is becoming increasingly scarce as the new spring styles take over the racks. This always poses a dilemma for me- I mean what€™s the point of buying the light, airy, spring styles if they're gonna just hang around in the back of my closet untouched until the weather warms up?
I used to be a 'season- specific-shopper': if it was cold, I was buying sweaters, if it was August, there€™s no way you€™d see my trying on heavy coats, and so on. However, when the appropriate season would roll around, I'd find myself sifting through racks of rejects. I am now finally in tune with the whole in-between time, a time when we are all challenged to put our fashion savvy to the test and incorporate the new with the old, with the ultimate goal of transitioning seamlessly from one season to the next without looking like hapless fashion-victims who stringently cling to dictated 'season trends.' To combat your seasonal slump, why not add a pop of color to your tired winter look. Belts were HUGE on the spring '08 runways- just about every single look was topped off with a belt to cinch the waist. The world is also going to become a much more colorful place come spring, as bold, flashy colors made a 'NOTICE ME' comeback. So kill two birds with one stone and begin transitioning your wardrobe into spring with a bold belt. And don't be belt-shy either: throw a belt over your coat, a loose sweater, a dress, a cardigan, a tunic - anything goes!Check out our slideshow for a bold-belt bonanza to help your spruce up your tired winter look.
