Being caged might not sound so bad if your "cage" is a handbag from Creations by Kage, a playful, equestrian-inclined line of handbags that features pleating and a signature horseshoe accent. I had the pleasure of meeting with the designer, Kristin, last week and found her to be quite delightful and as joyful and carefree as her bags.
She informed me that her choice of horseshoes €“ which alternate in metal finish and design from season to season €“ are a reference to her mother who loves to ride horses. Meanwhile, the names of the bags come from animals she's owned €“ though she admits as the line began to expand she has begun to name bags after animals that belonged to friends and family. Maybe I can convince her to do a Simba bag after my adorable blond poodle?Right now, I'm lusting after the Hailey Clutch, a generously sized clutch €“ not quite oversized, so petite gals don't fret €“ with cinching detailing and a pull-through, gold horseshoe closure. I have this lovely clutch in black from a previous season and for spring I recommend the butter color or the tea rose. These are fresh hues for the season that will have you thinking of sunshine and spring time all year long!
