While on my weekly "just got paid" shopping spree, I just happened to stumble into my neighborhood American Apparel to peruse the new arrivals at everyone's favorite jersey giant. Everything was going as usual: my size was sold out, the employees looked like they hadn't taken a lunch break in about a few months and yes, AA had discovered new places to cut out or wrap fabric, allowing you to reveal just about whatever region you wish. What was unusual about this innocent trip to AA was a girl who was giggling uncontrollably while strapping on a neon orange suspender swimsuit over a stuffed muscle costume in the middle of the store. And I thought, "What a good idea" and apparently American Apparel thinks so to because they've unleashed their own DIY costume creations using their basics and a little ingenuity to make an easy costume. And if you think you've created a real winner using their basics, then you should enter their Halloween Costume Contest--the top five winners will each receive a $100 online gift certificate. But hurry! The deadline to enter is November 5th! Check out some of American Apparel's clever costume creations in the slideshow and also stop by the American Apparel website for video tutorials!
