My journey from fab to flab has come to an interesting crossroads. Just 28 days since I first submitted myself prostrate to Clay and Elizabeth Burwell at High Performance, my body €“ and life - has changed. And I am noticing it. Like I was kind of jogging to the subway a few days ago, and I could feel my pecs both bouncing up and down, and being activated. Because there are muscles in there now. First time ever for that.
Then, just this morning, my gym clothes were in the laundry hamper, and I had a workout, so I put on these poor, neglected Carhart shorts from the bottom of my drawer that I haven€™t worn in years because they been waaaay too tight around my middle, and today, they were loose. And my favorite Diesel leather studded belt? I€™m going to have to punch a couple of new holes in it, because it just sits on my hips like a hula hoop now. Now, I€™ve starved myself in the past and lost 11 pounds and achieved some waist line reduction only to gain it back three weeks later, but this time, I€™m not losing a ton of weight - seven pounds in four weeks. That is real weight loss, and I'm not discounting it, but I could have done that by eating nothing but pickles and chicken or some Atkins-y thang. The difference is my High Performance change is muscular, as in, the fat is being replaced by it, and the muscle doesn€™t take up as much room! Plus, I feel so much more alive and mentally engaged. I think in the past, after awhile, my brain just got tired as my body pooped out. Now, I am thinking faster longer. My decision-making, patience, and analytical skills have all improved. It€™s all connected, I am learning €“ finally!Plus, on top of it all, I have four new friends. Clay, Elizabeth, Hans and Franz. Yes, I have named my pecs after a 15-year-old SNL skit.6 Weeks to Sexy ArchiveWeek1: Turning My Philip Seymour Hoffman Body Into Sting€™s
