"Twilight" Madness: Which "New Moon" Merchandise Is Creepiest?

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 21, 2009 9:19 AM PST
At the risk of sounding super dorky, I'll admit that I've read the Twilight series... more than once. And sure, if I had to pick, I guess I'd say I'm on Team Jacob, but I mean... I wouldn't exactly call myself a Twi-hard. So what if I saw "New Moon" at midnight?! Alright, fine, I'm kind of a Twilighter... but I'm definitely not alone! After all, it's hard not to succumb to the year's ultimate guilty pleasure when you're surrounded by it everywhere you look -- and in light of the "New Moon" Westwood premiere last Monday, "fanpire" fever is undoubtedly in full effect if it hasn't been already! T-shirts, jewelry, makeup... you can hardly go into your favorite store anymore without seeing something emblazoned with R-Pattz's face on it. However, despite my borderline inappropriate crush on Taylor Lautner, I'm a firm believer that there are certain boundaries that need to be observed when it comes to obsessing. Sure, the very nature of the vampire-centric series is eerie in itself, but some Twilight toys and t-shirts take fangirl freakiness to a whole new level. I mean, what is the purpose of a life-size cardboard cutout? And no matter how badly you may want your own icy Edward Cullen to snuggle with, do you really need a duvet cover with his face on it? Vote below on what "New Moon" paraphernalia is the most ridiculous!

Welcome to the Jungle: Animal Prints Inspired By Dolce & Gabbana

    image
Pauline Montupet on Nov 20, 2009 2:19 PM PST
Animal prints have been around forever, since the near beginning of time. So it's not surprising that that they come back in fashion periodically. From leopard print to zebra prints -- you name it -- everything from the jungle will be welcomed this fall. Dolce & Gabbana have always been a huge fan of this wild style, making it their signature, and this fall other designers like Phillip Lim and Oscar de la Renta are embracing it as well. From realistic to abstract versions of the prints, they are everywhere and they're a bold way to add to some punch, pattern and texture to any outfit. Feeling risky? Go for a head to toe look inspired by the Dolce & Gabbana runway and pair a tastefully sexy leopard pencil skirt like the Mirror & Dash Leopard Skirt from Urban Outfitters with a Torn by Ronny Kobo bold shouldered long sleeve top. The different scaled prints and covered up shoulders make the look work, and at a fraction of the cost of the runway look! If a head-to-toe animal print is too much for you, try wearing an animal print top or shoe. Check out the slidshow to see ways to get wild with animal prints.

Jimmy Choo For H&M Collection Debuts For VIPs, And All ...

On the eve of the official Jimmy Choo for H&M collection debut, I made my way to the retailer's flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York for a special pre-launch shopping event. Celebs, fashion professionals, and press made up the invitation list--par for the course at these shindigs. We're generally a jaded lot (or, at least, pretend to be). Anna Wintour walks within two feet of you in the tents during Fashion Week? Don't even blink (internally, though, you're hyperventilating). So imagine my surprise when upon entering the red-carpeted doors, I spotted many of my brethren in a state of downright frenzy, squealing over stilettos and gleefully grabbing as many handbags as they were allowed. The store itself was tricked out with glamorous sapphire draping, an open bar, and gourmet h'or dourves, but all eyes were on the shoe section where even the guests had to wait our turn to have a go. Christian Siriano and Michelle Trachtenberg were just some of the stars spotted in the fray, and as I left the store, there were apparently folks getting ready to line up overnight for the opening on Saturday morning. The H&M designer collections are a phenomenon I love for the fun, boy band crazy-like moments they create, especially when they can bring out the fashion fanatic in many of my seemingly "over it" colleagues, moi included. And next up on H&M's stellar collaboration roster? Sonia Rykiel, whose H&M lingerie collection launches December 5, with a spring collection debut to follow on February 10, 2010. Check out the slideshow for photos of some of your favorite celebs and the scene at the Jimmy Choo for H&M VIP shopping event!

Recession Chic: Cute Boots For $100 Or Less!

    image
Ida Hsiang on Nov 20, 2009 10:25 AM PST
Every woman, whether she admits it or not, has a shoe addiction. Stiletto pumps should have a home in every woman's closet and strappy anythings add sex appeal to any outfit. The real power player in the woman's shoe department, however, is the boot. Tall, heeled, slouchy or whatever the style, boots always make a statement when you put them on. Whether you're trying to achieve casual comfort, add an edgy vibe, or be an all-out sex kitten, there's a style of boot that will do it for you. With all the variety in boot fashion that is now available, it's not a bad idea to invest in a quality pair or two to add to your shoe collection. Quality leather boots can be a little hard on the wallet and, while I'm not saying that they wouldn't be worth it, maybe your bank roll just can't quite handle a designer pair at the moment. That's no excuse or reason to not join the latest shoe craze and rock some killer boots so click on the slideshow to see some favorite leather boots for $100 or less!

Vintage Fashionistas Savor Gray This Season!

    image
Mary Kincaid on Nov 20, 2009 8:18 AM PST
When searching for vintage clothing online, it's important that you use the right keywords to find what you want. And heaven forbid you're looking for something gray, because well, there's gray (the American spelling) and then there's grey (the British spelling). Of course, since vintage clothing sellers on both sides of the pond spell this color both ways without any sensible rhyme or reason, the wise online vintage shopper knows to plug both spellings into their search engines. If you do, you'll be rewarded with a smorgasbord of vintage treats in this classic, conservative neutral. Try substituting darker charcoal shades of gray for black. Or choose pale shades of gray to take the place of white. Morning, noon or night, for dresses, coats or evening gowns, gray is a fabulous wardrobe choice for a vintage fashionista. Hot In The Hive: DEFY Bags

    image
Ida Hsiang on Nov 20, 2009 6:25 AM PST
So everywhere you go these days, people are making an effort to "go green", from light bulbs to cars to clothing. Anything that helps out Mother Earth, I'm for it! That's why when I spotted these DEFY Bags, I had to check them out. Not only are their bags unique and completely cool, but they also make a statement -- political, social commentary, or just random observations of art and culture in an eye-catching and slightly retro design. And it's not just the way the bags look that make DEFY Bags so hot, it's the fact that they also have a 'go green' attitude. These messenger bags are perfect to carry around pretty much anything you'll need throughout the day and each one is truly individual because artists hand create the picture on the front from old billboard signs. Don't see a picture that expresses the true you? You can design your own flap! Another cool thing to check for after you find the bag that shows your personality the most? Look inside and see just what kind of message the original billboard was selling! Edgy, personal and made of recycled goods, DEFY Bags are worth more than a second glance!

    Price: Small: $115.00 - Medium: $120.00 - Large: $125.00

Hot In The Hive: Eyeko Cosmetics Vintage Nail Polish (Looks ...

Thinking back to the Chanel Fall 2009 runway show, I can't really recall any of the details other than the colors of the models' nails. Their bright jade green fingertips took my breath away and I knew it would be the next must-have nail polish color. Fast forward to present day and I'm still trying to find a suitable duplicate of the sold-out shade, so I have to say my heart raced more than a little when I encountered this tempting promotion from Eyeko Makeup. This super cute and affordable makeup company boasts a collection of eyeshadows, mascaras, lip glosses, and nail polish. I've tried their famous Eyeko Cream which gives me a iridescent glow when I don't feel like putting on any makeup. I've returned yet again, to snag a few of their latest nail polishes and discovered they have their own version of a jade green nail polish called Vintage. Best part? It's not even for sale! Instead, they're giving it away to anybody who buys 3 or more Eyeko products (which isn't hard to do). Just enter VINTAGE in the checkout box when you order by Monday 11/23!

    Price: free with purchase!
